French+Hiking

French+Hiking is the perfect immersion course for those who wish to learn and improve their French, while exploring the amazing variety of mountain terrain in the Swiss Alps.

Structured learning

Structured, formal learning is a core component of all the Academy's French immersion courses. It is held in our stylish premises that include state-of the art interactive learning technologies. The program includes interesting and varied methods such as, the integrated aural-oral approach, vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and most importantly, pronunciation and intonation.

Informal learning (Hiking program)

Learning French as you hike throughout the Valais provides a memorable experience thanks to the spectacular variety of hikes in the region. In fact, you will discover that the Valais is truly a hiker’s paradise with a multitude of mountain lakes and countless possibilities for hiking along the 280 kilometres of sign-posted trails.

You will marvel at glaciers, traverse through dense forests interspersed with sparse meadows, be inspired by the unspoilt nature and interesting rock formations. Take a moment at one of the mountain huts to enjoy the serenity of the surrounding landscapes with prominent summits in the distance. You’re bound to be surprised by the abundance of flora and fauna.
Appropriate clothing, recognised hiking boots and a rucksack are all that is needed to ensure an afternoon of refreshing activity. Please note, that hikers must have recognised hiking boots to be able to participate in the guided hiking tours.  Hikers will also need to be at a reasonable level of fitness to enjoy the variety of hikes and diverse landscape surrounding Crans-Montana.

• 3-course dinner (except Saturday nights);
• four-hour structured French language lessons (Monday to Friday);
• tea and coffee breaks;
• course support material and folder; 
• lunch at a variety of interesting locations (Monday to Friday); and.
• guided hiking tours, either 4 half-day hiking tours or 2-half day and 1 full-day hike per week.

• lunch on weekends; 
• dinner on Saturday nights;
