About Us

Our linguistic and cultural centre consists of modern, sophisticated premises right in the heart of Crans-Montana. A team of enthusiastic and dedicated teachers helps students learn French in well-equipped state-of-the-art classrooms.

Our philosophy of learning French

We believe that the most effective way to learn a language is to constantly hear and experience its sounds and rhythms in an authentic setting. So we immerse you in French, provide a variety of stimulating lessons based on relevant and interesting themes, and ensure that you complete the course feeling enriched and satisfied with your progress. Our aim is that learning French in Switzerland should be a personal achievement, as well as a memorable one.

Our linguistic and cultural centre

Our lounge area, bar, café facilities and outdoor terrace are designed so that you can continue your learning experience in a less formal environment.  The foyer is perfect for presentations by guest speakers who are invited to enlighten and entertain you on a variety of topics. These facilities are available for clients during presentations and social gatherings such as the café de lecture, wine-tastings and musical evenings.

Our teachers & teaching methods

The Académie de français prides itself on the calibre of its experienced teaching staff. Our staff specialise in different components of the course such as phonetics, diction, grammar and role play so as to maximise your learning experience and inspire you to achieve your best. They believe that learning French must be enjoyable and rewarding. Our professional teachers use varied methods to develop the four key competency areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Average class sizes are approximately six to eight students.

Our teachers are experienced in preparing students for the official French proficiency exams, such as DELF and DALF, and have achieved excellent results.

Grammar & writing

Our courses provide a comprehensive grounding in the fundamentals of French grammar. A variety of interactive exercises brings the grammar alive and helps you learn the rules, while avoiding the pitfalls. The learning tasks will become more complex as you advance through the courses and improve your language skills.

Role play

Specialist teachers in diction and phonetics will help to draw out your conversational abilities and encourage participation without inhibition.

Drama/diction teachers use role play and drama games to help you articulate your thoughts and actions and to improve vocalisation and improvisation abilities

Conversation

French literature, stories and current affairs topics as well as informal wine and culinary tastings form the basis for conversational exercises.
